Rabat – The Finalissima match between Argentina and Spain, set for March 27 in Qatar, is now at risk of being postponed or canceled due to the escalating crisis in the Middle East.

Qatar has suspended all football matches and tournaments scheduled in the country until further notice.

The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) had already postponed several Champions League fixtures, including games in the Champions League Two and Challenge League. Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al Nassr was among the clubs affected.

This latest suspension has thrown the fate of the Argentina vs Spain showdown into uncertainty. With airspace closures and security concerns mounting, the possibility of staging the match as planned looks increasingly complicated.

The Gulf region is facing major disruption, with air travel restrictions adding to the challenges. The suspension comes just 26 days before the scheduled game, which was also set to be followed by Spain’s friendly against Egypt.

Although the Qatar Football Association confirmed the suspension of competitions, the final decision on the Argentina vs Spain game rests with the Supreme Committee organizing the event.

Officials are expected to weigh the safety of players and staff before making any announcement, depending on how the security situation develops.

Both the Spanish and Argentine football federations have already moved into a state of alert. They are reviewing contracts and insurance clauses in case the match is canceled.

According to Spanish outlet AS, neither UEFA nor CONMEBOL has received official communication regarding the status of the game.

For now, the Finalissima remains scheduled, but the situation is fluid. The organizers’ priority will be ensuring the safety of players, officials, and fans, with the final call likely to depend on how the regional crisis unfolds in the coming weeks.
