Agadir – The Ministry of Digital Transition and Administrative Reform concluded yesterday the latest phases of the RamadanIA Hackathon, a national initiative designed to develop sovereign artificial intelligence solutions across Morocco.

The Minister Delegate to the Prime Minister in charge of Digital Transition and Administrative Reform, Amal El Fallah Seghrouchni, supervised the closing of the regional program in Merzouga.

In her closing speech, the minister said that organizing this initiative in Drâa-Tafilalet reflects the government’s commitment to ensure digital equity across all areas of the country.

For this phase, the program also expanded to Agadir and Essaouira.

Part of the national “Made in AI” program, the hackathon aligns with the broader objectives of the Digital Morocco 2030 Strategy, ensuring that all regions of Morocco can utilize artificial intelligence according to their unique needs and capacities.

The goal is to give every region access to modern technologies and encourage the development of solutions adapted to local needs.

The RamadanIA Hackathon gathered many young innovators with projects targeting  specific economic, social, and environmental challenges of each region.

The initiative is structured around practical impact. Each project must demonstrate a direct regional benefit, validating its market fit within the first 72 hours.

Projects spanned a wide variety of sectors, including smart health, energy, tourism, water management, financial inclusion, the green economy, oasis preservation, sustainable agriculture and community development among others.

By targeting these areas, the program encourages startups to transition from prototype to functional solutions capable of real-world deployment.

The next phases of the RamadanIA Hackathon, scheduled for March 6–8, will cover the Rabat-Sale-Kenitra, Beni Mellal-Khenifra, and Casablanca-Settat regions.

The initiative comes as part of the government’s strategic effort to transform AI into a practical tool for citizens, bolster the competitiveness of small and medium enterprises, and build a sovereign digital ecosystem.

Beyond ideation, the digital ministry offers mentorship, guidance, and field implementation support. High-potential projects will have the opportunity to be showcased at major international technology events such as GITEX Africa 2026 in Marrakech, strengthening Morocco’s visibility as an emerging AI hub.
