Rabat – The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has dismissed Yasin Osman Robleh, the Djiboutian official who led its judicial bodies for six years. The decision was confirmed by CAF Secretary General Veron Mosengo-Omba on Saturday, according to a source who told El Botola.

Robleh had overseen disciplinary and investigative committees since 2019, but his position came under pressure following the fallout from sanctions issued after the Africa Cup of Nations final between Morocco and Senegal. The disciplinary rulings sparked criticism and placed CAF’s legal structures under scrutiny.

In response, CAF’s executive committee has moved to appoint Togolese lawyer Cedric Egai, currently Director of Legal Affairs, as interim replacement. His promotion is expected to stabilize the body while CAF navigates several pending cases.

The timing of the dismissal has delayed new disciplinary announcements. CAF’s disciplinary committee held hearings last Thursday on multiple cases, including the high-profile clash between Egypt’s Al Ahly and Morocco’s AS FAR. Decisions on those files are now on hold until leadership is settled.

The source explained that once a permanent successor to Robleh is confirmed, CAF will move quickly to resolve outstanding disciplinary matters affecting clubs and national teams.

This change reflects CAF’s attempt to restore confidence in its judicial processes after weeks of controversy. The organization faces mounting pressure to ensure transparency and consistency in rulings, especially in the wake of incidents at major competitions.

Robleh’s departure marks the end of a long tenure in CAF’s legal structures, while Egai’s temporary role signals a shift toward new leadership at a critical moment for African football governance.
