ONCF Rolls Out Special Train Schedule for Eid Al Fitr Period

Rabat – Morocco’s National Railway Office (ONCF) has introduced a special travel plan to accommodate the expected surge in passengers during the Eid Al Fitr holiday, a period that sees heavy movement across the country.

ONCF said the temporary schedule will run from March 17 to March 29. The plan is to facilitate travel during the holiday period, which coincides this year with the end of school vacations and a large wave of departures and returns.

The Al Boraq high-speed train service will run with frequent departures between Tangier, Kenitra, Rabat, and Casablanca.

Outbound trips will operate hourly from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., except between 6 p.m. and 9 p.m., while return trips will depart every hour between 6 a.m. and 9 p.m. ONCF said it will also increase seat capacity during the busiest travel windows.

Additional services will reinforce the conventional Al Atlas train service network. Extra trains and higher capacity will serve several major routes, particularly those linking Marrakech, Casablanca, and Fez.

Connections to eastern and coastal destinations such as Oujda, Nador, Khouribga, and Safi will also benefit from reinforced services.

For regional commuter lines, ONCF said normal timetables will return gradually before Eid on the Casablanca-Settat axis.

Other nearby routes will return to their usual frequency after the holiday. On the busy corridor between Casa Port and Kenitra, trains will run every 30 minutes, while one train per hour will connect passengers with Mohammed V International Airport.

The railway operator has mobilized its operational and technical teams across stations and trains to manage the expected passenger flow.

Assistance and orientation services will receive reinforcement in major stations, while technical staff will remain on duty around the clock to maintain smooth circulation across the network.

ONCF also encouraged passengers to plan their journeys ahead of time and purchase tickets early, particularly round-trip tickets, to secure seats during the holiday rush.

Tickets remain available at station counters, automatic ticket machines, partner travel agencies, and through the company’s website and mobile application.

Eid Al Fitr marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan and ranks among the most important religious celebrations for Muslims.

The holiday traditionally brings a surge in travel across Morocco as many people leave major cities to spend the occasion with relatives in their hometowns.

Families gather for festive meals, visits, and prayers, which often leads to crowded roads, bus stations, and train routes in the days before and after the celebration.
