Rabat – Saudi Arabia said the crescent moon for Eid Al Fitr is invisible, announcing Eid Al Fitr 2026 is on Friday, March 20.

Saudi religious authorities said the crescent moon was invisible during the sighting this evening.

Therefore, Friday marks the end of Ramadan in Saudi Arabia and several other countries, which also declared March 20 as Eid Al Fitr.

Saudi Arabia will also complete 30 days of fasting this Ramadan,  as the country started fasting for the holy month on February 18.

Eid Al Fitr is a holiday celebrated by Muslims worldwide. The feast is especially special in Islamic countries as the whole country engages in various customs and traditions together.

Celebrations start with morning prayers, bringing together millions of worshippers

Eid prayers are always followed by a rich and balanced morning breakfast, with tables featuring sweets, dates, juices, milk, and tea.

In Saudi Arabia, families serve treats, and among them is the Saudi coffee, rich with special herbs and ingredients linked to the country.

Muslims also enjoy their first lunch during the daytime, gathering around tables at home and inviting guests over.

Eid lunch in Saudi Arabia usually includes meat kabsa, “al-qursan” bread, “jareesh” with chicken, as well as vegetables, biriyani, and other delicacies.

In Morocco, traditions and food are different, but one common thing is that they would also serve many dishes, savory and sweet, to celebrate the Eid.

Many people celebrate the feast with ordinary couscous with seven vegetables, while others choose to cook special dishes such as “tefaya,” which is couscous with caramelized onions,  and “djaj mhmer,” which is  grilled chicken with spices and a famous savory sauce called “deghmira.”
