Rabat—Paris Saint-Germain have officially asked the Ligue de Football Professionnel to postpone their Ligue 1 match against RC Lens, currently scheduled for Saturday April 11.

The request is all about making sure the team has enough recovery time between the two legs of their Champions League quarter-final against Liverpool FC.

PSG are facing a demanding run of fixtures:

  • April 8: First leg vs Liverpool at Parc des Princes
  • April 11: Ligue 1 match away to Lens
  • April 14: Second leg at Anfield

With only three days between each game, the club wants the Lens one moved to better manage player workload ahead of the return leg in England.

PSG were already granted a similar adjustment earlier this season, when a league match was rescheduled ahead of their Champions League tie against Chelsea.

Lens oppose the request

Lens have made it clear they do not want the match postponed. The club released a statement criticizing the idea of changing the schedule to suit European competitions, arguing that it affects the balance of the league.

The timing is particularly sensitive given the title race. Lens are currently just one point behind PSG, albeit having played one game more, making their match an important moment in the battle for first place.

The LFP is expected to make a final decision on Thursday. Under league regulations, the governing body has the authority to change the schedule without both clubs’ approval if it believes it benefits French teams competing in Europe.

For now, the match remains set for April 11, meaning PSG could be forced to play a crucial league game between their two meetings with Liverpool.
