Rabat – The Ministry of Defense in the UAE announced that a Moroccan national was killed during a routine mission in Bahrain following an Iranian missile attack on the Gulf country.
The UAE ministry said the Moroccan national was working as a civilian contractor in the UAE Armed Forces.
“The blatant Iranian track also resulted in the injury of five personnel of the UAE Ministry of Defence,” the ministry added.
The statement concluded by extending condolences and sympathy to the family of the Moroccan national and expressing speedy recovery for the others who were injured.
The statement did not disclose the identity of the Moroccan national who was killed in the Iranian attack.
The Bahraini news agency reported on the death of the Moroccan national, detailing that he was killed alongside his “brothers in the Bahrain Defence Force” while confronting the “wrongful Iranian attacks targeting the kingdom’s territory with missiles and drones since February 28, 2026.”
The Bahrain defense ministry also extended its condolences to the family of the Moroccan national. It reiterated Bahrain’s readiness to defend with “determination the skies, waters, and land of the nation” to counter “anyone who seeks to undermine the security and stability of our cherished kingdom.”
Bahrain also urged everyone to rely on official sources for information and refrain from circulating rumors.
The killing of the Moroccan national comes amid escalating war between Iran, the US, and Israel.
Iran has been targeting Gulf countries hosting US assets, including Bahrain, the UAE, and Qatar, in alleged retaliation operations.
On Monday, Bahrain said it intercepted and destroyed 147 missiles and 282 drones since the start of Iranian attacks in February.
The situation in the Middle East continues to bring about mounting concerns among the international community, which has been calling for calm and restraint to avoid further repercussions.
Morocco has been among the countries that condemned the ongoing Iranian attacks on Gulf countries, emphasizing its readiness to back any measures deemed acceptable in response to the Iranian attacks.
Morocco’s Foreign Affairs Minister, Nasser Bourita, has consistently reiterated his country’s support for the GCC.
Earlier this month, Bourita conveyed Morocco’s firm and constant solidarity with its partners, describing Iranian attacks on Gulf countries as “unjustified.”
He also recalled King Mohammed VI’s recent calls with Gulf leaders, stressing the importance of ties between Rabat and countries in the region.
Bourita said the countries share strong cultural and religious links as well as common values and similar security challenges.
