Rabat – The United Kingdom (UK) has reiterated its commitment to deepening strategic cooperation and economic ties with Morocco.

British Minister of Trade Chris Bryant reaffirmed his country’s position before the House of Commons, emphasizing that the two countries seek to boost economic relations and intensify cooperation in different sectors.

He recalled the enhanced strategic partnership in June 2025, which aims to encourage trade exchanges and create new investment opportunities in both countries.

Under this framework, Morocco and the UK signed a series of agreements reinforcing mutual economic growth and security cooperation.

Bryant also recalled the third session of the Morocco-UK Association Council held in London in November of last year.

He said the meeting served as a platform in which both countries translate the partnership into concrete outcomes, to accelerate the implementation of joint projects and to strengthen bilateral exchanges.

The two countries enjoy an expanded economic relationship, which reached £4.2 billion in 2024.

The number doubled since the entry into force of the UK-Morocco Association Agreement in 2021.

“Building on this positive momentum, both parties expect this new partnership to drive further trade growth, create quality jobs, and reduce costs for consumers,” a joint statement the two countries released in June.

Both countries reaffirmed their intention to continue strengthening bilateral ties, especially after the UK’s milestone decision to join the growing chorus in support of Morocco’s Autonomy Plan to end the dispute over Western Sahara.

In November last year, Morocco’s ambassador to the UK, Hakim Hajoui, recalled the importance of his country’s decision to support the Moroccan initiative.

He said the decision marked a “historic turning point in our 800-year-old friendship.”

Hajoui stressed that the enhanced strategic partnership signed last year also strengthens cooperation across trade, energy, and innovation.
