Rabat—The Moroccan Professional Football League is under increasing pressure as it has yet to announce the schedule for postponed Week 12 matches, raising the possibility of a temporary suspension of the championship.

The situation has become more complex with the approach of the second half of the season. While the league has confirmed the dates for delayed fixtures from Weeks 10 and 11, the absence of a schedule for Week 12 continues to create uncertainty among clubs.

Raja Club Athletic have taken a firm position on the issue, insisting that all postponed first-leg matches must be completed before the start of the return phase. The club has referred to Article 20, Paragraph 4 of the competition regulations, which requires outstanding fixtures to be played before the second half begins, in order to guarantee equal conditions for all teams.

Pressure builds as clubs await league decision

This stance puts the league in a difficult position. If clubs follow Raja’s line and refuse to play upcoming fixtures – particularly Week 16 matches – before all postponed games are completed, the competition could be suspended for up to two weeks.

As Moroccan clubs prepare for the semi-finals of the CAF Champions League and the CAF Confederation Cup, such a scenario would also align with the calendar of African competitions. The first legs of these top-tier continental matches are scheduled for April 10 and 11, with the return legs on April 17 and 18.

At the center of the situation is the key question of whether Raja will maintain its position or accept a compromise that allows the league to continue as planned.

The outcome will have a direct impact on the remainder of the season, especially at a time when the race for the title and the battle to avoid relegation are intensifying. For now, the league has yet to provide clarity, leaving clubs waiting for a decision that could determine whether the championship proceeds or is temporarily put on hold.
