Agadir – The Minister of Health and Social Protection, Amine Tahraoui, officially launched the “Tarkhiss” digital platform on Tuesday in Rabat.

The platform, developed by the Moroccan Agency for Medicines and Health Products (AMMPS), marks a turning point in national health reforms and accelerates the sector’s digital transformation.

The launch ceremony brought together key industry stakeholders, including AMMPS Director General Samir Ahid, institutional leaders, and pharmaceutical professionals.

“Tarkhiss” is a centralized platform for regulating medicines and health products, replacing traditional procedures with a faster, more efficient digital system.

In his keynote address, Tahraoui commended the AMMPS for implementing this strategic project.

He noted that digitalization simplifies administrative procedures, improves effective governance, speeds up file processing, and strengthens tracking for both users and industry operators.

For his part, Ahid outlined the strategic vision for digital transformation, which focuses on modernizing professional procedures, IT infrastructure, and a  full digitalization of activity declarations and medicine registrations.

The ministry described “Tarkhiss” as the centerpiece of the agency’s digital roadmap, targeting key reform areas.

By adopting digital processes aligned with global standards and World Health Organization (WHO) guidelines, “Tarkhiss” positions Morocco alongside leading international regulatory authorities.

According to AMMPS, the system integrates advanced technologies, such as AI-based analysis tools, to optimize file processing. This makes Morocco one of the first countries to apply such innovations in health product regulation.

The rollout of “Tarkhiss” will follow a progressive roadmap. The first phase targets the cosmetics and personal hygiene sector, which covers nearly 3,500 operators, and enables fully paperless processing for activity declarations, certificate registration and renewal, free sale certificates, and import authorizations for raw materials.

Future phases will gradually extend the platform to all health products and medicines.
