Rabat – The General Directorate of Meteorology (DGM) has issued a warning for strong winds, blowing dust, and thunderstorms in several regions of Morocco on Thursday and Friday.

The orange-level alert says that strong wind gusts with dust between 70 and 80 kilometers per hour are expected in the provinces of Figuig, Taourirt, and Jerada. These conditions will occur on Thursday from 2 pm until 11 pm.

The weather service also forecasts thunderstorms with hail and locally strong wind gusts, with rainfall between 20 and 30 millimeters.

These weather conditions are expected in several provinces, including Sefrou, Boulemane, Al Hoceima, Berkane, Taza, Taounate, Moulay Yacoub, Fez, Ifrane, El Hajeb, Taourirt, Oujda-Angad, Jerada, Guercif, Driouch, and Nador. They will start on Thursday at 2 pm and continue until Friday at 12 pm.

This unstable weather comes after a start of the week marked by rising temperatures across many parts of the country. Some areas recorded high heat levels, reaching up to around 39°C, before the weather shifted to more unstable conditions with winds.
