Rabat – Stormy weather is set to hit parts of eastern Morocco on Wednesday, with authorities warning of locally strong thunderstorms in the provinces of Figuig and Jerada.
According to the General Directorate of Meteorology (DGM), the affected areas can expect significant rainfall of 20-35 mm in a short period. The weather system may also bring hail, increasing the risk of localized disruption.
The alert remains in effect from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., as outlined in an orange-level weather warning issued by the national meteorological authority.
Such conditions can lead to temporary flooding, reduced visibility, and hazardous travel, particularly in exposed or low-lying areas.
Residents in the concerned provinces are advised to remain cautious and follow any safety instructions issued by local authorities.
This alert comes amid increasingly unstable weather patterns across Morocco, where temperatures have fluctuated sharply in recent days.
Periods of unusual warmth have often given way to sudden drops, with calm conditions quickly shifting to storms and rainfall, which indicates a broader trend of irregular seasonal transitions affecting several regions of the country.
