Ali Fassi Fihri, the former president of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF), died on Sunday at the age of 71 following a long illness.
The Moroccan news agency reported the news, citing confirmation from the deceased’s family.
Fassi Fihri held several senior positions.
In addition to serving as FRMF President from 2009 to 2013, he also worked as Director General of the National Office of Electricity and Drinking Water (ONEE).
Among the other senior positions he held was President of the Supervisory Board of the Moroccan Agency for Sustainable Energy (MASEN)
He also held the position of President of the Board of Directors of LafargeHolcim.
The FRMF issued a statement today mourning the death of Fassi Fihri and conveying current president Fouzi Lekjaa’s condolences.
“Mr. Fouzi Lekjaa, President of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation, on his behalf and on behalf of all members of the federation’s executive board, has extended his deepest condolences and sincere sympathy to the family of the late Ali Fassi Fihri, as well as to all components of Moroccan football, following this great loss,” the statement said.
