Rabat – FC Barcelona are looking into taking legal action against Florentino Pérez following his comments at a press conference held on Tuesday.
The Catalan side has released a formal statement following the press conference, moving quickly to address the allegations, signaling a sharp escalation in the institutional tension between the two clubs.
“Regarding the press conference held by the Real Madrid president, Florentino Pérez, we inform that our legal department are carefully examining his declarations and accusations,” the club stated.
“They are currently being analysed and the steps to be taken are being assessed. When considered opportune, any positions and decisions that have been adopted will be notified.”
During the press conference, the Real Madrid president shared his concerns about the integrity of Spanish football, focusing on the ongoing refereeing controversy.
“Three years ago, the ‘Negreira Case’ was uncovered, the biggest corruption scandal in the history of Spanish football,” Perez argued. “It is unacceptable that referees linked to that period continue to officiate in our league. For this reason, we have prepared a comprehensive dossier that we will present immediately to UEFA.”
Beyond those initial comments, the Real Madrid president revealed that the club is compiling an extensive 600-page dossier to be submitted to UEFA for formal review.
“We are putting together a 600-page dossier that I will send to UEFA. There is no precedent for this in world football. The president of the CTA says we have to forget about it,” Perez said.
The scale of the situation is unprecedented in global football, the Real Madrid president suggested, adding that despite calls from the Technical Committee of Referees (CTA) to move past the controversy, he remains committed to pursuing the matter further.
These statements come just days after Barcelona beat Real Madrid 2-0 to win this season’s La Liga trophy.
