Rabat – The National Human Rights Council (CNDH) will lead the Artificial Intelligence Working Group within the Network of National Human Rights Institutions of Francophone Countries as its chair.
CNDH said it received a unanimous vote for taking this role, with the support of representatives from member institutions of the group, including Togo, Gabon, Benin, Belgium, France, and Morocco.
The network includes 29 national human rights institutions. CNDH is already aware of the network, as it hosted its conference and international symposium on AI in December 2025.
The election adds another achievement to the council, which continues to champion experience regarding human rights in digital spaces and efforts in AI.
It also showcases efforts and UN-level advocacy led by CNDH president Amina Bouayach during her tenure as head of the Global Alliance of National Human Rights Institutions.
CNDH has been strengthening its presence and focus on AI, including AI. Earlier this month, the Council unveiled a new AI-powered digital library dedicated to human rights.
The digital library seeks to boost access to human rights knowledge, it said, stressing the library will have direct access to the council’s work, including reports, studies, opinions, and recommendations.
The platform will also have an integration and interactive AI system, allowing users to ask questions exploring human rights topics.
It will also allow personalized responses drawn from the council’s publications.
