Fermín López Responds to Florentino Pérez’s La Liga Comments

The Barcelona midfielder firmly rejected Florentino Pérez’s claims that Barça "stole" seven La Liga titles, arguing it was impossible to cheat with a squad featuring Lionel Messi, Xavi, and Andrés Iniesta.

Rabat – Barcelona midfielder Fermín López has responded to recent statements made by Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez.

Pérez had dismissed criticism of Madrid’s poor season by drawing attention to his legacy and track record of success, noting that he has won seven Champions Leagues and seven La Liga titles out of 14.

The Real Madrid president further claimed that Real could have won all 14 league titles, stressing:“I’ve won seven Champions Leagues and seven La Liga titles out of 14, but I could have won all 14 La Liga titles because the rest were stolen.”

Fermín López addressed the comments during an interview on the Cadena SER radio program ‘Què T’hi Jugues’, as reported by Mundo Deportivo.

When asked if he had watched Florentino Pérez’s press conference, Fermín replied, “Yes, we’ve seen it like everyone else, but we always focus on what happens here.”

“Everyone has their own perspective. I don’t think it’s right to say that Barça stole seven league titles because Messi, Iniesta, and Xavi played,” Fermín added. “It’s impossible. We don’t care about that either. We’re focused on our own path; we don’t care what happens outside of Barça. We’re very focused on our own business.”

When asked to elaborate further, Fermín added that the Real Madrid president’s comments did not bother him because everyone has a right to their opinion. He stressed, however, that found the statement to be unfair.

The Spanish player also explained that fierce rivalries are just a normal part of football, noting that players simply have to accept different emotions and move on.

Fermín concluded by focusing on his own team. “We’re very focused on what’s happening at Barça, which is going through a very good period. I’m sure titles will come, and we’re very happy with what we’re doing,” he said.
