An era comes to an end following Robert Lewandowski farewell via Instagram post. The Polish striker officially announced his departure for the end of the current season.
Lewandowski expressed his gratitude to the club and the fans, confirming the news of his departure just ahead of the final home game against Real Betis, where he is expected to say goodbye to the Barça supporters one last time at Camp Nou.
Previous reports had indicated that Barcelona were willing to renew his contract but on a completely different financial basis. Lewandowski, however, has decided it is time to turn the page and close this chapter of his palmares.
“After four years of effort and challenges, it’s time to turn the page,” the Polish striker wrote on Instagram, thanking President Joan Laporta and Barcelona supporters for offering him “one of the most important stages of my career.”
The 37-year-old leaves as one of the key men behind Barcelona’s comeback, re-establishing them back into a domestic powerhouse. He managed to snatch three La Liga titles, three Spanish Super Cups, and one Copa del Rey since his 2022 arrival from Bayern Munich.
Despite sharing a significant portion of his game time this season with Ferran Torres, the veteran striker still managed to deliver a masterclass, scoring 18 times as Barcelona once again claimed the La Liga crown.
Lewandowski finished his spell with 119 goals in 191 appearances, further earning his status as one of the best strikers in the history of the game.
According to several reports, the Polish striker has already attracted interest from clubs in Europe and the United States, including Chicago Fire FC, who have been monitoring his situation for quite some time.
The Polish star landed in Barcelona at a time when the Catalan club was struggling to find its way back to the top of both Spanish and European football. Having played a central, starring role in Barcelona’s regain of its domestic and continental prestige, Lewandowski now leaves as a club legend, carried with emotions and moments no Culés will ever forget.
