Rabat – Today, Morocco Gaming Expo has placed the spotlight on Morocco’s growing ambitions to become a regional hub for the video game industry, as government officials, creatives, and technology leaders gathered to discuss the future of gaming and digital innovation in the Kingdom.

Held as one of the first large-scale initiatives of its kind on the African continent, the event reflects Morocco’s broader strategy to strengthen its position within the global digital economy while investing in high-potential creative industries.

The conference, attended by Mehdi Bensaid alongside public and private sector stakeholders, highlighted the rapid global growth of the gaming industry and the opportunities it presents for Morocco in terms of employment, technological development, and international competitiveness.

Speakers emphasized that the gaming sector is no longer viewed solely as a form of entertainment, but as a powerful economic ecosystem that combines technology, design, storytelling, artificial intelligence, animation, and digital production.

For Morocco, the development of this industry could create new career paths for young talents while encouraging innovation across multiple sectors.

The event also underscored Morocco’s ambitions to attract international studios, support local developers, and build an ecosystem capable of producing competitive games for regional and global markets.

Officials stressed the importance of investing in training programs, digital infrastructure, and creative education to help Moroccan youth access opportunities within the rapidly expanding industry.

With gaming revenues worldwide continuing to surpass those of several traditional entertainment sectors, Morocco sees the industry as a strategic lever for economic diversification and digital transformation.

The initiative aligns with the country’s wider efforts to position itself as a leading technology and creative hub in Africa and the MENA region.

Beyond its economic impact, participants also highlighted gaming’s growing cultural influence, describing it as a modern medium capable of promoting creativity, storytelling, and cultural exchange on an international scale.

As Morocco accelerates its digital development strategy, initiatives such as the Morocco Gaming Expo signal a clear intention to place the Kingdom at the forefront of Africa’s emerging gaming and creative technology landscape.
