Agadir – Morocco’s National Motorway Company (ADM) has warned motorists of heavy traffic expected across the country’s highway network ahead of Eid Al-Adha, urging travelers to remain vigilant during one of the busiest travel periods of the year.
In a statement issued ahead of the holiday, ADM said traffic congestion is expected to intensify on Monday, May 25, and Tuesday, May 26, between 3 p.m. and 10 p.m., coinciding with peak departure times.
Another major wave of traffic is anticipated on Sunday, May 31, between 4 p.m. and 10 p.m., as travelers return home after Eid celebrations.
ADM encouraged highway users to plan their trips in advance and monitor road conditions in real time through the ADM Traffic mobile application. The company also advised motorists to check and recharge their Jawaz electronic toll pass before departure, either through the Jawaz app or at shops located in highway service areas.
The highway operator stressed the importance of road safety during the busy holiday period, reminding drivers to stay alert to weather warnings, especially in cases of strong winds, rain, or fog.
ADM also urged motorists to take a break every two hours, inspect their vehicles’ mechanical condition, particularly tires, and avoid using emergency lanes except in urgent situations.
ADM said it has activated a full vigilance mode for the Eid period, including reinforced traffic management teams, preventive maintenance operations, infrastructure monitoring, and enhanced coordination with all partners operating on the national highway network.
Eid Al-Adha is traditionally one of the busiest travel periods in Morocco, as thousands of families travel between cities and rural areas to celebrate with relatives. The increase in vehicle movement typically places significant pressure on major highway routes connecting economic hubs such as Casablanca, Rabat, Marrakech, and Agadir.
