Chadi Riad will join Morocco’s national team camp with a European trophy in his hands after helping Crystal Palace win the UEFA Conference League on Wednesday night.

The English side beat Rayo Vallecano 1-0 in the final thanks to a goal from Jean-Philippe Mateta, giving Palace the first European title in the club’s history.

Riad started the match and played the full 90 minutes in defense as Crystal Palace kept a clean sheet in a tense final. The Moroccan defender delivered another solid performance on one of the biggest nights of his young career.

The 22-year-old now heads directly to Morocco’s World Cup preparations full of confidence ahead of the tournament in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

Morocco begins its World Cup campaign against Brazil on June 13 before facing Scotland and Haiti in Group C.

Riad’s development over the last two years has been impressive. After coming through Barcelona’s La Masia academy, he joined Crystal Palace and quickly became an important part of the team’s defense.

Winning a European title before the World Cup is another big moment for the Moroccan international, who is expected to play an important role for the Atlas Lions this summer.
