Rabat – Bayern Munich have started discussions over a possible move for Moroccan international Ismael Saibari, turning to the PSV Eindhoven midfielder after their pursuit of Anthony Gordon stalled.

Transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano reports that Bayern have opened talks with Saibari’s camp as the German champions look to strengthen their attack ahead of next season.

Gordon had been one of their main targets, but negotiations with Newcastle did not progress, pushing Bayern to consider alternatives.

Bayern’s interest

The Bundesliga giants want more creativity and flexibility between midfield and attack. Saibari fits that need.

At 25, he can operate as an attacking midfielder, central midfielder, or wide option. His technical skill, physical strength, and ability to make decisive runs into the box have impressed Bayern officials.

The club is now expected to study PSV’s financial demands before deciding on a formal offer.

Saibari is believed to be open to the move. Playing in the Bundesliga and competing for one of Europe’s biggest clubs is seen as an attractive step in his career. PSV, however, are unlikely to let him go easily.

The Dutch side consider him a key player and will demand a significant fee, especially after his standout season.

Career path

Born in Terrassa, Spain, in January 2001 to a Moroccan family, Saibari grew up in Belgium and developed through several youth academies before joining PSV in 2020.

He first played for the U‑21 side before breaking into the senior squad, where he became a regular and one of the team’s most important attacking midfielders.

At the international level, Saibari represents Morocco and is part of the Atlas Lions’ new generation of European‑based talent.

His rise has made him one of the country’s most promising midfielders heading into the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Saibari’s breakthrough came in the 2025‑26 season, when he was named Eredivisie Player of the Year.

He scored 15 goals and provided 8 assists in 27 matches, directly contributing to 23 goals.

Those numbers made him the league’s most productive midfielder and a central figure in PSV’s attack.

His performances combined strength, close control, and the ability to decide matches from midfield.

Why Bayern want him

For Bayern, Saibari offers something different. He is not a traditional winger but can play across several advanced roles, giving the team variety in possession.

His Eredivisie experience, physical development, and growing role with Morocco make him a player with both immediate impact and long‑term potential.

Talks remain at an early stage. Bayern have made contact, Saibari is open to the move, and PSV are waiting to see if the German club will meet their valuation. With the summer market moving quickly, the coming weeks could be decisive.

If Bayern push forward, Saibari could become one of the biggest Moroccan transfer stories of the summer.
