According to L’Équipe, Rennes are planning to extend Abdelhamid Ait Boudlal’s contract, the move reflects the French club’s confidence in the young Moroccan defender and his future with the team, as they seek to tie him down amid growing interest.
In a statement, sporting director Loïc Désiré confirmed that Ait Boudlal is among the players Rennes want to keep for a longer period. “Regarding Abdelhamid, we were waiting for the end of the season because he quickly joined the Moroccan national team after the last match,” he said.
“But yes, he and Esteban are players whose contracts we want to extend.”
The decision comes after an impressive run this season, which helped him win over Rennes head coach Franck Haise.
A product of Mohammed VI Academy, The Moroccan international remains under contract until summer 2028. In the meantime, he is attracting interest from several European clubs, including Borussia Dortmund, which has already considered signing him to straighten its central defence.
Ait Boudlal is gradually taking his place in the Ligue 1 this season, with 21 matches played and two goals scored, in all competitions.
