Rabat – FIFA’s latest world rankings confirm Morocco has climbed one spot to seventh in the world, ensuring the Atlas Lions enter the World Cup among the world’s football elite.
The climb follows several friendly wins for Morocco just before the 2026 World Cup, giving the team a major confidence boost as they prepare for a challenging tournament run, highlighted by their upcoming clash against Brazil.
The Atlas Lions pushed their total to 1756.94 points, maintaining their position as the top-ranked nation in both Africa and the Arab world.
Morocco jumped ahead of the Netherlands to take 7th place globally, making them the highest-ranked African team in history after the Dutch lost 1-0 to Algeria and dropped below the Atlas Lions in the standings.
The latest standings highlight the Atlas Lions strong pre-World Cup form, fueled by Tuesday’s commanding 4–0 win against Madagascar.
The Atlas Lions are now preparing to face Norway in their final friendly match this Sunday. This matchup will serve as the ultimate warm-up for the squad just six days before they kick off their highly anticipated World Cup campaign against Brazil.
