Morocco’s Atlas Lions arrived at The Pingry School in New Jersey today. The campus will serve as the team’s official base camp throughout the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The institution is located in Basking Ridge, about 50 kilometers from New York City. It will transform into the operational headquarters for the squad as they prepare for their upcoming group-stage matches along the East Coast.
Elite facilities
Selected from a list of FIFA-approved training sites, Pingry School offers facilities that meet the highest standards of modern football. Situated in Basking Ridge, New Jersey, the campus combines top-level infrastructure with a prime location near major transportation networks and several host cities along the East Coast, where Morocco is expected to play part of its group-stage matches.
At the heart of the complex is the Miller Bugliari World Cup Field, which recently underwent significant upgrades to meet international requirements. The facility includes two natural grass training pitches specifically designed for elite teams, as well as a modern performance center equipped with advanced recovery, fitness, and conditioning technology.
A historic World Cup venue
Pingry School is no stranger to the world’s biggest football stage. The Italian national team used the campus as its training base during the 1994 FIFA World Cup hosted in the United States, highlighting the venue’s long-standing reputation as a destination for top international teams.
The choice of Pingry School also carries significance beyond football. New Jersey is home to a large Moroccan community, which is expected to rally behind the Atlas Lions throughout the competition. Local authorities hope Morocco’s presence will showcase the state’s sporting facilities and tourism appeal to a global audience.
The home of another legacy
During the tournament, the school grounds will become a pivotal point of Moroccan football in America. Pingry School will host the preparations, recovery sessions, and tactical planning of a team aiming to build on its historic fourth-place finish at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
For Morocco, the 2026 FIFA World Cup’s results will be on the pitch. But behind the scenes, the atmosphere provided by Pingry School can play an important role in creating the physical and mental environment needed for another memorable campaign in football’s biggest tournament.
