Agadir – Morocco’s newly appointed ambassador to Indonesia, Redouane Houssaini, officially began his diplomatic mission after presenting his Letters of Credence to Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto on Tuesday at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta.
“The presentation of Letters of Credence of Redouane Houssaini, Ambassador of His Majesty King Mohammed VI to the Republic of Indonesia, took place yesterday at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta, marking the official commencement of his diplomatic mission,” the Moroccan Embassy in Indonesia announced today.
During the ceremony, Houssaini conveyed the greetings and best wishes of King Mohammed VI to President Prabowo and the Indonesian people, while emphasizing the longstanding friendship between the two countries and the importance of expanding bilateral cooperation in a rapidly changing global environment.
According to a statement from the Moroccan Embassy in Indonesia, the ambassador highlighted Morocco and Indonesia as “natural partners sharing common values and a common vision for the future,” stressing the need to further diversify cooperation across key sectors.
Houssaini reaffirmed Morocco’s commitment to advancing the strategic partnership launched between the two countries in 2023, which serves as a framework for enhancing bilateral relations and elevating cooperation to a higher level.
He also expressed his determination to work closely with Indonesian authorities to strengthen collaboration in areas including trade, investment, renewable energy, food security, climate action, and cultural exchanges, particularly among young people.
The ambassador pointed to the complementary roles played by the two nations on the international stage, noting that Indonesia serves as a gateway to Southeast Asia while Morocco offers access to Africa, Europe, the Arab world, and the Americas.
He further pointed to the shared values that underpin relations between Rabat and Jakarta, including tolerance, openness, and Islamic moderation.
For his part, President Prabowo asked the ambassador to convey his greetings to King Mohammed VI and expressed his wishes for continued prosperity and development for the Moroccan people.
The Indonesian leader also voiced satisfaction with the strong friendship between the two countries and reaffirmed his commitment to further strengthening bilateral relations in support of mutual interests, South-South cooperation, and sustainable development.
The presentation of credentials marks the formal start of Houssaini’s tenure in Jakarta and comes as Morocco and Indonesia seek to build on growing diplomatic and economic ties under their strategic partnership framework.
