Marrakech – Saudi low-cost carrier flynas announced on Thursday the launch of direct flights between Rabat and Jeddah starting July 4, becoming the first Saudi airline to operate a nonstop route between the two cities.
The airline will run one weekly flight on the route, according to a press release. The new service adds to flynas’s existing three weekly direct flights between Casablanca and Jeddah, which the carrier launched in 2023. Since entering the Moroccan market that year, flynas has carried more than 300,000 travelers between the two countries.
Rabat is now the second Moroccan city in the flynas network. The move, the airline said, is designed to offer passengers greater flexibility and meet growing demand for travel between Saudi Arabia and Morocco.
The route also serves a religious dimension. Flynas indicated the Rabat-Jeddah service will contribute to Saudi Arabia’s Pilgrim Experience Program by facilitating the arrival of Umrah performers and visitors to the Holy Sites via King Abdulaziz International Airport.
Morocco sent 34,000 pilgrims to this year’s Hajj season alone, and Umrah travel from the country remains steady year-round.
The launch forms part of a broader expansion strategy. Flynas aims to connect the world to Saudi Arabia and deepen its footprint in the African market. The airline framed the new route as a direct contribution to Saudi Arabia’s National Civil Aviation Strategy, which targets 330 million passengers and 250 international destinations by 2030, in line with Vision 2030 objectives.
Flynas, the first airline listed on the Saudi Exchange (Tadawul), currently operates 156 routes to more than 80 domestic and international destinations across 38 countries. The carrier runs over 2,000 weekly flights and has transported 110 million passengers since its founding in 2007. It plans to expand its network to 165 destinations under its current growth plan.
Beyond Morocco, the airline’s North African network includes flights to Algiers and six Egyptian cities, including Cairo, Hurghada, and Sharm El Sheikh.
Tickets for the new Rabat-Jeddah route are available through flynas.com, the flynas mobile app, the airline’s call center, and authorized travel agents.
