Rabat – A 1-1 draw brought the spectacular Morocco vs. Brazil World Cup opener to an end.

Morocco scored its first goal in the 21st minute. Isamel Saibari scored the first goal, stunning Brazil in a wonderful moment for the national team. The goal was scored after an outstanding assist from Brahim Diaz.

The Atlas Lions started their campaign with balance, focus, no rush, determination, and control.

Cohesion has been evident among Bouaddi, Mazraoui, and Brahim Díaz, with quick ball distribution from both sides.

After Morocco’s successful performance in the first 15 minutes of the match, Brazil attempted to control the game and create a few chances. However, Morocco came back with a strong performance, with Ismael Saibari’s stunning goal to shock Ancelotti’s lineup.

Of course, Brazil did not stay idle.

Brazil’s Vinícius responded with an equalizer in the 32nd minute of the match,  a goal that came as Hakimi was slightly out of position.

In the first half of the game, ball possession was almost the same, but the Atlas Lions had more shots, although Brazil controlled most of the passing.

The second half of the match, however, marked more control from Brazil, with Vincnius and his squad trying to create chances.

In the 70th minute, Morocco came back with good control and a good attempt from Saibari that was later ruled offside.

Ouahbi’s changes in the second half, taking Ounahi and Díaz off the pitch, helped refresh the Atlas Lions, but the squad struggled to keep ball possession, although they also made strong efforts to create chances in between.

Morocco, however, mounted a strong comeback in added time, taking control of the game and creating several chances. El Aynaoui missed a golden opportunity to put Morocco ahead.

Overall, Morocco’s Atlas Lions showed a good plan and support from all players, with all focusing on their duties.

Again, Ouahbi’s lineup showed persistence and a highly promising plan that showed the Atlas Lions are able to create surprises in the tournament.

Morocco’s Atlas Lions continue to maintain relevance, as many see the African champions as one of the contenders able to reach an advanced stage in the tournament.

Many sports figures and sports analysts see Morocco at least advancing in their group stage, while others predict the Atlas Lions to go further, including reaching the semi-finals.

Morocco’s Atlas Lions built their reputation especially during the 2022 FIFA World Cup, where Morocco became the only African and Arab team to reach the semi-finals of the World Cup under Walid Regragui.

Now it is Mohamed Ouhabi who is managing the team, and he is already determined to see the Atlas Lions do great things during the tournament.

Despite Brazil’s dominance in the stands, Moroccans were heard chanting the famous “Sir” — the “Go!” chant that accompanied the Atlas Lions during their 2022 World Cup journey.

Now that Brazil’s test is ending, Morocco is facing Scotland on June 19 and Haiti on June 24.
