Rabat – The Professional Fighters League (PFL) has confirmed that Casablanca will host PFL Africa on October 10.

The event will feature a lineup of the continent’s top MMA fighters, offering Moroccan athletes the opportunity to compete on an international stage before a home crowd.

The tournament was organized through cooperation between the Professional Fighters League and Hamza El Hachali, president of the Royal Moroccan Federation of Mixed Martial Arts, securing Casablanca a spot on the inaugural PFL Africa schedule.

The fight card will include prominent African fighters and emerging regional talent looking for international exposure, with the event expected to attract significant continental interest.

Mixed martial arts have seen steady growth in Morocco recently, marked by an increase in gyms, participants, and local tournaments. Organizers expect the Casablanca event to aid in identifying and developing future MMA talent across Africa.

Local athletes will feature prominently in Casablanca, with several Moroccan fighters currently signed to the PFL roster expected to compete. This includes lightweight prospect Salah Eddine Hamli, alongside experienced competitors Badreddine Diani and Abderrahman Errachidy.

The tournament reflects the PFL’s broader global growth model, which has already established regional footprints in Europe and the Middle East.

Following initial development in 2024, the PFL Africa project launched its first competitive season in 2025.

After staging events in Cape Town and Johannesburg, and the semifinals in Kigali, Rwanda, PFL Africa brings its eight-fighter tournament format to Casablanca, featuring competitors across the heavyweight, welterweight, featherweight, and bantamweight divisions.

Former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou acts as chairman and equity owner of PFL Africa, anchoring the promotion’s strategy to grow mixed martial arts throughout the region.

Beyond the tournament standings, the event is expected to further integrate MMA into Morocco’s mainstream sports culture while increasing local participation.
