Casablanca — Bank Al-Maghrib (BAM) has launched the third edition of its Prize for Economic and Financial Research, opening applications to Moroccan researchers with doctoral degrees in economics or finance.
In a statement released on Tuesday, the central bank said the competition is open to Moroccan nationals under the age of 40 who have completed a PhD in economics or finance at a higher education institution in Morocco or abroad.
The initiative forms part of BAM’s social responsibility policy and is designed to support research linked to the institution’s areas of work. It also aims to strengthen ties between the central bank and the academic community while contributing to the development of Morocco’s research ecosystem and the visibility of economic research.
Three distinctions may be awarded as part of the competition. The jury will grant an Excellence Prize and an Encouragement Prize to selected winners. It also reserves the right to award a special Jury Favorite Prize.
BAM said all participation requirements and application documents are available on its official website. Researchers interested in taking part have until September 25, 2026, to submit their applications.
The prize targets a new generation of researchers working on economic and financial issues and seeks to encourage academic work connected to the missions of the central bank. Through the initiative, BAM aims to promote research in fields related to monetary, financial, and economic matters while building stronger links with universities and research institutions.
The competition has become a recurring program for the central bank, which is now organizing its third edition. By supporting young researchers and doctoral graduates, BAM says it hopes to contribute to the growth of academic research and encourage greater engagement between policymakers and the research community.
Applications are now open, with the final submission deadline set for late September.
