Agadir – Morocco and Oman signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) today to strengthen cooperation in the training and qualification of lawyers, legal professionals, and experts, according to a statement from Morocco’s Ministry of Justice.
The agreement was signed following talks between Morocco’s Minister of Justice Abdellatif Ouahbi and Oman’s Minister of Justice and Legal Affairs Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Saidi at the Ministry of Justice headquarters in Rabat.
The memorandum seeks to establish an institutional framework for cooperation between the two countries and facilitate the exchange of expertise, experiences, and best practices in legal and judicial training.
According to the ministry, the agreement provides for the exchange of training plans, academic content, and professional development programs.
It also includes the organization of professional visits, joint training sessions, conferences, seminars, and specialized workshops, alongside the development of annual action plans to implement agreed areas of cooperation.
The signing ceremony took place during an official visit by Al Saidi, who was accompanied by Oman’s Ambassador to Morocco, Khalid Salim Bamakhalif.
The two ministers also held bilateral discussions on several issues of mutual interest in the legal and judicial sectors, reviewing prospects for expanding institutional cooperation and supporting efforts to modernize justice systems and strengthen professional and legal competencies.
Commenting on the agreement, Ouahbi said that “the signing of this memorandum reflects the strong fraternal ties between the Kingdom of Morocco and the Sultanate of Oman and demonstrates the shared commitment to advancing legal and judicial cooperation through investment in training, knowledge exchange, and the strengthening of the capacities of justice sector professionals.”
For his part, Al Saidi said that “this memorandum provides a practical framework for enhancing cooperation between the two institutions and opens new avenues for exchanging experiences, knowledge, and specialized expertise in the training and qualification of lawyers, legal professionals, and experts, in a manner that serves the common interests of the two brotherly countries.”
The ministry concluded that the agreement reflects the shared determination of Morocco and Oman to deepen bilateral cooperation in the legal and judicial fields while reinforcing institutional partnerships that serve the interests of both countries and their peoples.
