Rabat – Three Arab nations have qualified for the Round of 32 at the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Morocco, Egypt, and Algeria secured their places in the knockout stage after strong performances in the group phase.
The tournament ended in disappointment for the other Arab representatives. Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Tunisia, Iraq, and Jordan were all eliminated before the knockout rounds.
Morocco continued its impressive World Cup form following its historic 2022 semi-final run. The Atlas Lions finished second in Group C with seven points and remained unbeaten. They sealed their place with a thrilling 4-2 comeback win over Haiti.
Egypt also booked a place in the Round of 32 after finishing second in Group G with five points. The Pharaohs secured qualification with a hard-fought 1-1 draw against Iran. This is Egypt’s first qualification for the knockout stage since its first appearance as the first African and Arab nation in the tournament in 1934.
Algeria completed the Arab trio in the knockout stage. The Desert Foxes advanced as one of the best third-placed teams after a dramatic group-stage campaign. Their qualification followed a thrilling battle with Austria, and they now hope to repeat or improve on their Round of 16 run at the 2014 World Cup.
With three teams still in the competition, the Arab world now looks to Morocco, Egypt, and Algeria to carry its hopes into the knockout stage.
