Rabat – Spanish airline Vueling has expanded its network to Morocco by launching four new direct routes from Spain. This will make travel between the two countries easier during the busy summer season.

The new routes connect Barcelona to Nador, Barcelona to Fez, Alicante to Tangier, and Santiago de Compostela to Marrakech. The airline said the expansion brings its total number of direct routes between Spain and Morocco to 10.

The Barcelona-Nador and Barcelona-Fez routes provide new direct links to northeastern Morocco and one of the country’s historic imperial cities. Meanwhile, the Alicante-Tangier service, which began operating on May 2, marks Vueling’s first direct connection between Alicante and Morocco.

The new Santiago de Compostela-Marrakech route also opens a direct link between Galicia and one of Morocco’s most popular tourist destinations.

Barcelona-El Prat Airport remains Vueling’s main hub for flights to Morocco, with six of the airline’s Moroccan routes operating from the Catalan city. During July and August, the Barcelona-Tangier route will offer up to 12 flights per week, the highest frequency ever operated by Vueling on the route during the summer season.

The airline also continues to operate frequent flights between Barcelona and Marrakech throughout the year, while maintaining exclusive direct connections to destinations such as Essaouira from Barcelona and Seville. Other Spanish cities, including Bilbao and Seville, also benefit from direct flights to Moroccan destinations.

The expansion comes as Morocco continues to strengthen its position as one of the world’s fastest-growing tourist destinations. The country welcomed nearly 20 million international visitors in 2025, setting a new national record and surpassing previous tourism figures.

The achievement reflects Morocco’s growing global appeal and the success of its efforts to improve tourism infrastructure, expand air connectivity, and promote its diverse attractions.

Tourism has become one of Morocco’s key economic sectors, with visitors drawn to the country’s rich cultural heritage, historic medinas, Atlantic and Mediterranean coastlines, the Sahara Desert, and cities such as Marrakech, Fez, Tangier, and Chefchaouen.

Improved air links with European markets, including Spain, have played an important role in supporting this growth.
