Rabat – Australia faces Egypt today in a major Round of 32 elimination match at the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The game takes place at Dallas Stadium in Arlington, Texas. The winner of this single-elimination match will advance to the Round of 16 to face either Argentina or Cape Verde.
The Socceroos reached the knockout stage after finishing second in Group D with four points. They beat Turkey 2-0, lost to the USA 2-0, and drew 0-0 with Paraguay. Australia has struggled to score in their last two games. However, they enter this match highly motivated to win their first-ever World Cup knockout game.
Egypt also advanced as runners-up after going undefeated in Group G. The Pharaohs drew 1-1 with Belgium, beat New Zealand 3-1, and drew 1-1 with Iran. Star player Mohamed Salah suffered a minor knee injury in their last game. He remains in the squad to lead a dangerous attack alongside Omar Marmoush.
