Rabat – Brahim Díaz became the first African player to record four assists in a single edition of the tournament. He reached this record during Morocco’s 3-0 victory over Canada in the Round of 16.
Díaz produced another moment of brilliance in the 82nd minute. The Real Madrid midfielder split Canada’s defense with a perfectly weighted pass to Azzedine Ounahi, who calmly finished to score Morocco’s second goal of the match.
It was Díaz’s third assist of the tournament before helping Soufiane Rahimi score the match’s third goal and his second one in the tournament after the dramatic goal against Haiti.
A tournament to remember
Throughout the tournament, Díaz has been one of Morocco’s most influential players.
His creativity, vision, and technical quality have helped the Atlas Lions create chances in every match. While others have grabbed the headlines with goals, Díaz has quietly become the team’s main playmaker.
His ability to find teammates in dangerous positions has been a key reason behind Morocco’s impressive run to the quarter-finals.
