Rabat – Morocco’s Round of 16 win over Canada has become the most physical match of the 2026 FIFA World Cup so far.
Official match statistics showed that the game produced 38 fouls. The referee also handed out eight yellow cards, with four bookings for each team.
The Moroccan players cautioned were Radouane Halhal, Achraf Hakimi, Azzedine Ounahi, and Bilal El Khannouss. Canada’s yellow cards went to Richie Laryea, Jonathan David, Luc De Fougerolles, and Cyle Larin.
The match was played at a high intensity from start to finish. Both teams battled hard, leading to many fouls and frequent interruptions.
The Morocco-Canada game surpassed several other physical matches at the tournament. Iran vs Egypt finished with 27 fouls and seven yellow cards. The United States vs Australia match had 28 fouls and seven bookings, while the United States vs Paraguay produced 30 fouls and six yellow cards. Ecuador vs Curaçao recorded 17 fouls and six yellow cards.
