Rabat – After a historic penalty-shootout sensation over Australia, Egypt now gives its full attention to their next showdown against 2022 FIFA WorldCup winner Argentina in the Round of 16 clash.
Ahead of the clash, which is taking place today at 5 p.m., Egypt head coach Hossam Hassan said his team respects Argentina’s but believes the Pharaohs have what it takes to get a place in the quarterfinals.
Hassan believes that Egypt has every reason to enter the game with full confidence regardless of Argentina’s status. He also acknowledged the difficulty of the challenge waiting for them but insisted his side is fully prepared for the knockout encounter.
“We have great ambitions and we know it will not be an easy game for either side,” he said. “But we are fully prepared for the game and I am satisfied with our preparations.”
The Egypt coach also emphasized the fact that the Pharaons qualifying to the quarter final should not be something impossible or unexpected for football fans.
As a reminder of Egyptian football’s standing in the global stage, he cited the huge impact of some of their world-class stars such as Mohamed Salah and Omar Marmoush.
“Reaching the last 16 should be normal for a great team like Egypt,” Hassan said.
Having already knocked out Australia to reach the Round of 16, Egypt now will face a harder challenge against World champions Argentina.
The Pharaohs will hope their belief can translate into another World Cup record.
