Rabat – France’s football team players are aware they are facing a challenging opponent in the quarterfinals, as Morocco is already gearing up to face Les Bleus, bringing back memories from the 2022 World Cup.
France’s William Saliba recalled Morocco’s strong campaign in the ongoing World Cup, emphasizing how the Atlas Lions have beaten major countries during the tournament.
Saliba told reporters following France’s win over Paraguay that Morocco “hasn’t lost a single match since the start of the tournament. It won’t be easy.”
Morocco booked a spot in the quarterfinals following a thrilling game against Canada on Saturday. The Atlas Lions won their Round of 16 match 3-0 against the co-host.
As for France, Les Bleus struggled before Mbappé scored the winning goal that took his team to the quarterfinals.
One of the exciting developments surrounding Morocco vs. France is the faceoff between two friends off the field but opponents on the pitch.
Achraf Hakimi commented in one of his posts online, recalling his friendship with Mbappé, stating that the French captain is “not his friend in the stadium.”
The comment made headlines and became a social media trend.
Mbappé, in one of his recent interviews, stated that France is “very happy to play against Morocco, and we’ll give everything we have to continue our journey.”

Rayan Cherki also commented on the game, stating that they are using their five days following the Paraguay test to recover properly.
“Then, in five days, we’ll go to war.”
All eyes are on the Moroccan team. Following the Paraguay game, Moroccans see hope that the Atlas Lions could make it and break the curse by beating the team that made the Atlas Lions’ World Cup dream fade in the semifinals.
Despite the exit in the 2022 World Cup semifinals, the national team earned respect and a new football status that the world continues to recall, as they became the first Arab and African team to qualify for this advanced stage of the tournament.
