Agadir – Bank Al-Maghrib (BAM) and Morocco’s Ministry of Agriculture, Maritime Fisheries, Rural Development, and Water and Forests signed a partnership agreement today to strengthen cooperation through the exchange of data, information, and expertise in statistics and economic forecasting.

Signed in Rabat by Bank Al-Maghrib Governor Abdellatif Jouahri and Agriculture Minister Ahmed El Bouari, the agreement aims to improve collaboration on economic analysis related to Morocco’s agriculture, maritime fisheries, water, and forestry sectors.

According to a joint press release from the two institutions, the partnership establishes “a formal framework for the exchange of data, as well as access to information and studies produced by both parties that are necessary for carrying out their respective missions.”

The agreement focuses on facilitating the sharing of statistical data and analytical resources to support the work of both institutions, particularly in monitoring economic trends and producing sector-specific forecasts.

Beyond data exchange, the partnership provides for the joint preparation of studies and research on issues of common interest.

These collaborative efforts are intended “to support decision-making and the development of public policies,” noted the statement, adding that they reflect a broader effort to strengthen evidence-based policymaking in Morocco.

The agreement also places emphasis on developing institutional expertise through staff training and capacity-building initiatives.

According to the statement, it includes “training initiatives and capacity-building programs for staff members of both institutions,” enabling employees to strengthen their technical skills and deepen cooperation between the central bank and the ministry.

The new framework is expected to enhance coordination between the two institutions by improving access to reliable data and expanding collaboration on research and economic analysis, particularly in sectors that play a key role in Morocco’s economy.
