Rabat – Jude Bellingham’s shoulder injury has become the main topic ahead of the Argentina England 2026 FIFA World Cup semi-final clash, after television cameras captured him holding his left shoulder following the Three Lions’ 2-1 extra-time victory over Norway.
The footage quickly spread rumors in Argentinian media that the Real Madrid midfielder could be carrying an injury into Tuesday’s highly anticipated rivalry.
Argentine outlet TyC Sports claimed Bellingham appeared unable to hide his discomfort after the quarterfinal.
The reports added to the buildup surrounding one of the tournament’s standout players, who has scored six goals throughout this tournament to help England reach the final four.
However, the concerns are linked to a previous shoulder injury rather than a fresh one.
Bellingham originally dislocated his left shoulder during a La Liga match against Rayo Vallecano in November 2023 but postponed surgery for more than a year and a half to continue playing for Real Madrid and England.
He eventually underwent corrective surgery in London on July 16, 2025. The player has since returned to full training, although British media, including the Daily Mail, noted that the shoulder remains an area of attention and the operation left a visible scar.
Bellingham is still expected to feature in England’s starting lineup when the Three Lions face Argentina in Atlanta on Wednesday.
Beyond helping his side reach the final, the 22-year-old will also have the chance to strengthen his scoring tally for the Golden Boot, with Harry Kane and Lionel Messi among the leading contenders.
