Rabat — Morocco and France have pledged to expand their cultural cooperation after Moroccan Minister of Youth, Culture, and Communication Mohamed Mehdi Bensaid held talks with French Minister of Culture Catherine Pégard on Thursday in Rabat during the 15th Morocco-France High-Level Meeting.

The discussions highlighted the growing momentum in cultural ties between the two countries, with both ministers reaffirming their commitment to strengthening cooperation in line with the ambitions of King Mohammed VI and French President Emmanuel Macron under the renewed Exceptional Reinforced Partnership.

Bensaid and Pégard reviewed several priority areas for future collaboration, including stronger exchanges between Morocco’s and France’s cultural industries, expanded opportunities for Moroccan artists at the Cité internationale des arts in Paris, and Morocco’s accession to the Fund for African Authors and Producers.

The two sides also discussed enhancing cooperation with the Arab World Institute in Paris, advancing joint archaeological research, and developing partnerships in the gaming and film industries—sectors that both countries see as offering significant opportunities for innovation, creativity, and economic growth.

These initiatives form the core of the cultural cooperation agreements that will be signed as part of the Morocco-France High-Level Meeting, reinforcing the role of culture as a key pillar of bilateral relations.

The meeting took place as Morocco and France signed 14 cooperation agreements during French Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu’s visit to Rabat, where he co-chaired the 15th High-Level Meeting with Moroccan Head of Government Aziz Akhannouch.

The broader package of agreements spans multiple sectors, including civil aviation, maritime education, and international cooperation, reflecting the two countries’ shared commitment to deepening their long-standing strategic partnership.

The cultural discussions between Bensaid and Pégard affirm the renewed momentum in Morocco-France relations, with both governments seeking to translate the strengthened political partnership into concrete projects that promote cultural exchange, support creative industries, and foster closer institutional collaboration.
