Rabat – Morocco’s Ministry of Islamic Affairs announced today that the second payment phase for Hajj fees for the upcoming Hajj season will take place from August 3–11.
The second payment window is reserved for applicants on the waiting list, according to the order established through the Hajj lottery.
The list will replace applicants who did not pay their Hajj fees during the first payment phase. Payment can be made either by certified check or electronic payment.
Selected applicants for the upcoming Hajj season must undergo the required medical check to obtain a certificate confirming their physical and mental fitness to perform the Hajj rituals, whether they are traveling under the official Hajj organization or through licensed travel agencies.
Pilgrims must then present the certificate to the Ministry of Interior’s services to obtain the official Hajj selection permit.
The ministry warned that Hajj fees must be paid in a single installment at Al Barid Bank branches.
The ministry set the payment amount for pilgrims under the official organization at MAD 65,000, with the final Hajj cost to be determined later and subject to revision upward or downward.
Data from Saudi authorities show that more than 1.7 million Muslims from around the world performed the Hajj pilgrimage this year.
The total number of pilgrims reached 1,707,301, including 1,546,655 who arrived from outside the Kingdom and 160,646 citizens and residents already based in Saudi Arabia. Among them, 893,396 were men, and 813,905 were women, according to data from the Saudi Ministry of Interior.
Moroccan participation in this year’s pilgrimage stood at 34,000 pilgrims. The Moroccan Ministry of Islamic Affairs set the basic cost for Moroccan citizens performing Hajj at MAD 63,021.
