Rabat – French side Rennes have turned down an initial approach from Borussia Dortmund for highly rated Moroccan defender Abdelhamid Aït Boudlal, making it clear that the 19-year-old is not for sale.
According to Africa Foot, Rennes rejected Dortmund’s opening offer, believing it fell well below the player’s value and long-term potential. The Ligue 1 club sees Aït Boudlal as a key part of its defensive future and has no plans to let go of one of its most promising young talents.
Aït Boudlal enhanced his reputation during a successful loan spell at Amiens SC, where he made 21 appearances across Ligue 2 and the Coupe de France. His consistent performances attracted interest from several European clubs, with Dortmund emerging as one of the strongest admirers due to the German club’s reputation for developing young players.
Rennes are particularly impressed by the Moroccan international’s combination of physical strength, composure on the ball, and tactical intelligence. The club’s coaching staff reportedly plans to give him a more prominent role in the first team during the upcoming season.
Although Borussia Dortmund continues to monitor the defender’s situation, Rennes has sent a firm message that Aït Boudlal is not available for transfer. The club would only consider negotiations if presented with an extraordinary offer that reflects both the player’s quality and his significant potential.
