Agadir – Controversial online influencer Andrew Tate and his brother Tristan Tate have been arrested after UK authorities announced additional criminal charges against them, including allegations of rape, sexual assault, and human trafficking-related offences.

The UK’s Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) said Andrew Tate faces seven additional counts of rape, alongside charges related to alleged sex trafficking and the possession of indecent images of a child. His brother, Tristan Tate, has been charged with one count of sexual assault, two counts of rape, and three counts of arranging or facilitating trafficking for sexual exploitation.

The alleged offences are said to have taken place between July 2010 and August 2017. The two brothers have previously denied all allegations against them.

Malcolm McHaffie, head of the CPS Special Crime Division, said the new charging decisions followed the submission of additional evidence by Bedfordshire Police, bringing the total number of alleged victims in the case to seven.

“The charging decisions followed receipt of a further file of evidence from Bedfordshire Police,” McHaffie said.

The US Marshals confirmed that the brothers had been taken into custody, while a spokesperson for the US Department of Justice said the arrests were carried out as part of extradition proceedings.

The CPS said it had formally requested the extradition of Andrew and Tristan Tate, who hold both British and US citizenship, from the United States to face the charges in the UK.

Their lawyer, Joseph McBride, rejected the allegations, saying the brothers were innocent and describing the new charges as a “political hit.” He argued that the legal action was linked to a defamation case filed by the brothers in the United States.

“We are confident that once a competent judge sees the facts, Andrew and Tristan Tate will walk free,” McBride said in a statement to the BBC.

The latest developments add to a series of legal proceedings involving the brothers. In May 2025, UK prosecutors confirmed that Andrew Tate, 39, and Tristan Tate, 37, would eventually face a total of 21 charges related to alleged offences said to have occurred between 2012 and 2016.

In 2024, Bedfordshire Police secured European arrest warrants for the pair as part of efforts to bring them back from Romania, where they had been living and were already facing a separate criminal investigation.

The brothers also recently lost a legal challenge seeking access to the identities of their UK accusers, after the CPS decided that the names of alleged victims should remain confidential until formal legal proceedings begin.
