Rabat – MAS’s hopes of signing Morocco international Youssef En-Nesyri have been put on hold due to the striker’s high salary demands, according to club official Abdelhaq El Marrakchi.
Speaking to Saudi newspaper Arriyadiyah, El Marrakchi, a member of Maghreb Fes’ advisory committee, revealed that the club previously held talks over a potential move for the 29-year-old forward. However, negotiations failed because of the financial gap between En-Nesyri’s current earnings and what the Moroccan club can afford.
“We wanted to sign Youssef En-Nesyri, but the salary he receives in Saudi Arabia is beyond our financial capabilities,” El Marrakchi said.
He added that a deal could only become possible if the Morocco international agrees to significantly reduce his wage demands, as Maghreb Fes is unable to match the terms of his current contract.
As things stand, a return to the Botola Pro appears unlikely, with the financial difference remaining the biggest obstacle to completing the transfer.
En-Nesyri joined Saudi Pro League side Al Ittihad in January 2026 from Turkish club Fenerbahçe. Since his arrival, he has made 18 appearances, scoring eight goals and providing one assist.
