Rabat – Bayern Munich are optimistic that Ismael Saibari will be back on the training pitch in early August after the Moroccan midfielder underwent further medical assessments following his World Cup injury.
According to German outlet Kicker, examinations carried out by Bayern’s medical staff confirmed that Saibari suffered a torn muscle fiber in his thigh, an injury sustained during Morocco’s Round of 16 victory over Canada at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The setback ended what had been a standout tournament for the 25-year-old, who established himself as one of Morocco’s most influential attacking players before being forced off through injury.
Kicker reports that Saibari will miss Bayern Munich’s annual Audi Summer Tour, which runs from August 1 to 8 in South Korea and Hong Kong. The Bundesliga champions are scheduled to face Jeju SK FC before taking on Premier League side Aston Villa as part of their preseason preparations.
The report adds that Bayern expect the Moroccan international to rejoin the squad during the second week of August once the team returns from Asia.
Saibari joined Bayern this summer after completing a high-profile move from PSV Eindhoven, with the German champions securing one of the breakout performers of the World Cup before interest from several European clubs intensified.
His absence is expected to create opportunities for other attacking players during preseason, with academy product Arijon Ibrahimović among those likely to receive additional minutes in the upcoming friendlies.
Kicker also notes that several injured Bayern players, including Serge Gnabry, Alphonso Davies, and Lennart Karl, are progressing in their recovery as the club prepares for the new campaign.
Although Saibari’s recovery will delay his unofficial Bayern debut, the German champions remain confident the Moroccan midfielder will be available before the start of the competitive season.
