Rabat – AS Roma have reportedly accelerated negotiations for Morocco winger Abde Ezzalzouli as the Italian club looks to strengthen its attack ahead of the new Serie A season.

According to transfer expert Matteo Moretto, Roma are preparing an offer worth €35 million, plus €5 million in performance-related bonuses.

Moretto announced the news on Fabrizio Romano’s YouTube channel,  stating this comes in an attempt to convince Real Betis to part ways with the Moroccan international.

The report claims Betis are holding out for a fee closer to €45 million, despite Ezzalzouli’s reported €60 million release clause, with negotiations expected to continue in the coming days.

Roma’s interest comes after Ezzalzouli enjoyed the most productive campaign of his career, establishing himself as one of Betis’ standout performers. Across all competitions, the 23-year-old contributed 15 goals and 13 assists while playing more than 3,100 minutes.

His performances have reportedly convinced new Roma head coach Gian Piero Gasperini, who is looking to add a dynamic left-sided attacker capable of fitting into his high-intensity system.

However, Ezzalzouli’s injury record remains something to be considered. He missed part of last season after suffering a medial collateral ligament injury that also ruled him out of Morocco’s FIFA World Cup campaign. The winger also endured several injury setbacks during the 2024–25 season, limiting his availability.

Roma are expected to carefully evaluate the financial aspects of any deal before making a final move, with sporting director Tony D’Amico continuing to assess multiple attacking options.

Premier League side Newcastle United have also been linked with the Moroccan winger, but current reports suggest Roma are leading the race as discussions with Betis continue.

No agreement has yet been reached, and neither Roma nor Real Betis has publicly commented on the ongoing negotiations.
