Weather forecast

Rabat – Morocco’s General Directorate of Meteorology (DGM) forecasts a heatwave and thunderstorms to hit several provinces across the country from Thursday to Sunday.

The weather office forecasts a heatwave with temperatures ranging between 36 and 42 degrees Celsius in the provinces of Oued Ed-Dahab, Boujdour, Laayoune, Es-Semara, and Aousserd.

Thunderstorms producing 20 to 25 millimeters of rainfall are expected in the provinces of Taourirt, Al Haouz, Taza, Guercif, Sefrou, and Boulemane from 2 p.m. to 11 p.m. today. The weather could also witness possible hail and strong wind gusts.

The same weather will affect Midelt, Khenifra, Ifrane, Beni Mellal, and Azilal during the same period and day, according to the office’s weather forecasts.

Morocco continues to experience heatwaves and warm weather across the country despite the arrival of fall and the end of summer.

Rabat’s region weather has been between mild and hot for the past few days. However, after weeks of temperatures ranging  between 27 and 29 degrees Celsius, today marks a noticeable drop in temperatures, with relatively warm but chilly weather.

Weather applications forecast temperatures to be between 25 and 27 degrees Celsius this week.

However, temperatures are expected to rise again between 29 and 30 degrees Celsius next week. The weather forecasts remain subject to change.
