Meknes – Real Sociedad has submitted a first official bid for Moroccan defender Nayef Aguerd, but Marseille turned it down. Despite the initial refusal, the two clubs are still negotiating the transfer this summer.
Marseille is actively clearing out space in its squad, with Aguerd next on the move. After initial talks with Qatari outfit Al Sadd, Real Sociedad has stepped up with an official bid for the Moroccan defender, though the French side knocked back their opening offer.
According to FootMercato, the Spanish club offered a €2.5M loan fee plus add-ons and a mandatory €10M buy option, but Marseille rejected the proposal as insufficient.
While the 30-year-old defender has already agreed to a five-year deal with the Spanish side, the two clubs remain in talks to work out an acceptable transfer fee.
Signed from West Ham United last summer in a €23 million deal, the Moroccan center-back remains under contract with the Ligue 1 outfit until 2030.
After missing the 2026 FIFA World Cup due to a pubic injury, Aguerd has returned to full team training as he prepares for the start of the new campaign.
Talks are expected to continue over the coming days. Marseille remains open to a deal, but wants an agreement that better meets its financial demands.
