CAF Unveils 2026-27 Club Rankings: Two Moroccan Teams Make the Top 10

Rabat – The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has released its latest official club rankings ahead of the 2026-2027 season, with two Moroccan clubs securing places among the continent’s top 10 following strong performances in recent continental competition.

Moroccan side RS Berkane climbed to fourth in the new standings with 57 points, narrowly missing out on the podium behind South Africa’s Mamelodi Sundowns, Egypt’s Al Ahly, and Tunisia’s Esperance Sportive de Tunis.

Berkane’s position reflects the club’s success in CAF competitions over the past few seasons, establishing themselves as one of Africa’s most competitive sides.

AS FAR also maintained a place among the continent’s elite, finishing eighth with 41 points.

The Rabat-based club remains one of Morocco’s highest-ranked teams, having regularly featured in CAF tournaments and produced steady results on the continental stage.

The biggest shift at the top of the rankings saw Mamelodi Sundowns overtake Al Ahly to claim first place. The South African champions lead the table with 73 points, while the Egyptian giants drop to second with 66 points.

Esperance occupy third place on 58 points, just one point ahead of Berkane.

Elsewhere, Algeria’s USM Alger completed the top five with 52 points. Egypt’s Zamalek climbed to sixth on 49 points after reaching last season’s CAF Confederation Cup final, while Pyramids slipped to seventh with 48 points despite winning the CAF Champions League the previous season.

Sudan’s Al Hilal and Algeria’s CR Belouizdad rounded out the top 10 with 39 and 38 points respectively.

CAF’s rankings are based on clubs’ performances in continental competitions over multiple seasons and are used as a reference for seeding and tournament draws.
