Casablanca – The overall lending rate in Morocco rose by 15 basis points to 4.81% in Q2 2026, according to Bank Al-Maghrib (BAM) quarterly survey on lending rates published on August 11. The rate had stood at 4.66% in the first quarter, according to the central bank’s data.
By type of loan, the rate for cash facilities reached 4.63%, up from 4.47% in the previous quarter. Equipment loans were priced at 4.65%, compared with 4.37% in Q1. Real estate loans stood at 5.06%, down slightly from 5.13%, while consumer credit rates fell to 6.81% from 6.86%.
For individuals, the average lending rate decreased to 5.59% in Q2 from 5.74% in the previous quarter. The rate for non-financial companies, meanwhile, rose to 4.71% from 4.54%.
Private non-financial companies faced an average rate of 4.81%, up from 4.79% in Q1. Within this group, large companies had an average rate of 4.56%, compared with 4.55% in the previous quarter. Rates for very small and medium-sized enterprises remained unchanged at 5.20%.
The latest figures come as bank credit continues to expand. BAM’s June 2026 credit and deposits dashboard showed that outstanding bank credit reached 1,301.8 billion dirhams at the end of June, marking an annual increase of 10.9%.
The central bank’s data also showed differences across lending categories. While consumer credit remained the most expensive among the listed loan types, its rate declined during the quarter. Equipment lending recorded the largest quarterly increase among the four categories, rising by 28 basis points from Q1 to Q2.
